These terms cover the iRead mobile app for iOS and Android, and the website at
iread-reader.web.app (including the browser-based PDF → EPUB converter).
By installing or using them, you agree to what follows. If you don't agree, please don't use them.
iRead is made and operated by an independent developer. Contact: iread.support@gmail.com.
You get a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use iRead on devices you own or control, for as long as these terms are followed. The app itself, its design and its code stay ours. You may not resell, rent, sublicense or redistribute the app, and you may not attempt to defeat the checks that gate paid features.
iRead has no sign-in and no sync server. Your books, reading progress and settings live on your device. That has a consequence worth stating plainly: if you delete the app or lose the device, we cannot recover anything for you, because we never had it. Use the app's own backup/export feature if your library matters to you.
iRead is a reader — it ships with no books and no catalogue. You choose what to import, whether from your device, from your computer over Wi‑Fi, or from a converted file. You are responsible for having the right to use those files, and you agree not to use iRead with material you are not entitled to hold. We do not host, distribute or index book content of any kind.
Neural voices are downloaded on demand from public model repositories and then run entirely offline. Those models are provided by their respective authors under their own licences; we make no claim over them, and their availability is not something we control.
The computer-import feature starts a temporary, token-protected server on your local network so a browser on the same network can send files to the phone. It is meant for a network you trust. Leaving it running on an untrusted network is not a good idea, and doing so is your call, not ours.
The PDF → EPUB converter on the website runs entirely in your browser; the file is never uploaded. It is offered free and as-is. Automatic conversion is imperfect — chapter detection and text extraction will not be right for every PDF, especially scanned ones — so check the result before relying on it, and keep your original file.
Don't use iRead to break the law, to infringe someone's copyright, to reverse engineer or tamper with the app beyond what your local law permits regardless of contract, or to interfere with the service for others.
iRead is actively developed: features may be added, changed or removed, and we may stop distributing the app. We'll avoid removing something you've paid for, but we can't promise any particular feature will exist forever, or that the app will run on every future OS version. Updates are delivered through the App Store and Google Play under their terms.
iRead is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted or error-free.
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for lost data or lost books. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you actually paid for iRead in the twelve months before the claim.
Nothing here removes rights you have under mandatory consumer law in your country — including statutory guarantees and refund rights — which apply regardless of what this page says.
You can end them at any time by uninstalling the app. We may suspend your licence if these terms are seriously or repeatedly broken. Uninstalling does not by itself refund a purchase; that's a matter for the store.
On iOS, Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies. Where it conflicts with this page, it wins. Apple is not a party to these terms and has no obligation to provide support for iRead; any claim about the app is between you and us, not Apple.
We may update this page. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continuing to use iRead after a change means you accept the updated terms.
